Twelve Years of Card Rooms on the Water
Ocean Voyage Events Australia began with a single blackjack table on a hired harbour boat. Today we produce poker tournaments, casino nights and full ship buyouts for companies, charities and private hosts across the Australian coast.
From One Table to a Fleet
In 2014, event producer Marcus Whitfield hired a 40-foot charter boat for a friend's birthday poker night. The game was ordinary; the setting was not. Guests who had played a hundred kitchen-table tournaments could not stop talking about playing cards while the Harbour Bridge slid past.
Within two years the agency had its first permanent berth agreement at Circular Quay and a roster of accredited dealers. We learned early that a poker night at sea succeeds or fails on logistics: boarding flow, table sightlines, dinner timing against the tide. That operational obsession is still what clients pay for.
Today the team produces more than 140 events a year, from ten-seat invitational games to full deck buyouts for 480 guests. The Reef Poker Series, our own four-day tournament cruise, sells out each season.
